Dense fog and smog have engulfed Punjab, including Lahore, causing major disruptions to daily life and significant traffic delays.
Due to poor visibility, several major motorways have been closed for safety, including the M2 from Lahore to Kot Sarwar, the M3 from Samundri to Darkhana, the M4 from Pindi Bhattian to Abdul Hakim, and the M11 from Lahore to Sialkot.

A spokesperson for the Motorway Police stated that the closures are a precautionary measure due to extremely low visibility. Travelers are advised to drive cautiously, reduce speed, and use fog lights for safety.
Authorities are urging the public to avoid unnecessary travel and stay indoors if possible. In addition to motorway closures, traffic flow on National Highways has also been impacted.
Meanwhile, air quality in Lahore remains dangerously high, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching a hazardous 714 on Saturday morning, making the city one of the most polluted globally. The persistent smog continues to obscure visibility in various parts of the city and its surroundings, creating unsafe road conditions.
Motorway Police have emphasized the importance of following safety guidelines, recommending travel during daylight hours and urging extreme caution on the roads.
