The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a weather advisory on Friday, warning of thunderstorms and rainfall across numerous districts in Punjab starting this evening and continuing through June 16.
A PDMA spokesperson stated that several areas—including Lahore, Narowal, Sargodha, Jhang, Mianwali, Sialkot, and Faisalabad—can expect strong winds, dust storms, and intermittent rain showers.

This advisory follows instructions from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who directed local authorities to stay alert and implement necessary safety measures in view of the predicted weather conditions. DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia confirmed that all relevant departments have been put on alert to ensure prompt responses to any weather-related emergencies.
According to DG Kathia, the incoming rainfall is likely to provide much-needed relief from the ongoing heatwave, helping to bring down the region’s high temperatures.
He advised the public to remain cautious during the rainy spell, especially during storms, and emphasized the importance of staying indoors during severe weather. “Avoid open areas during strong winds and lightning, and seek safe shelter when needed,” he warned.
The PDMA also urged citizens to take all weather warnings seriously and avoid going outside unnecessarily during intense weather events due to the potential dangers posed by lightning and falling objects.
