Punjab Launches Crackdown on Display of Weapons on Social Media; Six Arrested

Authorities in Punjab have initiated a focused crackdown on individuals showcasing firearms on social media. In a targeted operation led by the Crime Control Department (CCD), six individuals were arrested—four from Narowal and two from Nankana Sahib—after intelligence from online monitoring identified them displaying weapons in videos and photos.

During the raids, officials recovered a stockpile of modern rifles, pistols, and ammunition, sparking concern over illegal arms possession and the growing trend of glorifying weapons online.

A CCD spokesperson emphasized that such displays contribute to a culture of violence and pose a serious threat to public safety.

All six suspects have been formally charged, and investigations are ongoing to trace the origin of the seized weapons and explore any possible links to criminal organizations.

Authorities have also called on the public to report such activities and warned that strict legal measures will be taken against those misusing social media to promote or display firearms.
