A 50-year-old motorcycle delivery rider was fatally shot by robbers in Karachi early Saturday, highlighting the city’s ongoing struggle with rampant street crime. The incident occurred near Bagh Korangi Bridge in Shah Faisal Colony, under the Sharafi Goth police jurisdiction.
The victim, identified as Nadeem Ahmed, was a father of three and also worked as a caretaker at a mosque. He was traveling from North Karachi to Korangi when he was attacked. Critically wounded, Nadeem was rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre but passed away during treatment. His body was later handed over to his family.

Family members expressed outrage over the worsening law and order situation. His nephew Arsalan recounted how he called Nadeem at 4 a.m. only for a police officer to answer and deliver the devastating news. Another relative, Majid Ali, criticized the government’s failure to control crime, noting Nadeem’s dedication to his family and community despite the risks.
Nadeem, known for his humility and honesty, was balancing his duties as a muezzin with part-time work as a delivery rider to support his household. Residents say Shah Faisal Bridge has become a hotspot for robberies, with little visible intervention from authorities.
According to official statistics, 34 people have been killed in Karachi during robberies from January to April 2025, with killings spread across each month. Amid growing fear and frustration, citizens and community leaders are urgently calling for stronger measures to curb the escalating violence.
