Roger Waters of Pink Floyd Advocates for the Release of Imran Khan

English musician and Pink Floyd member Roger Waters has called for the release of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, stating that what is happening in Pakistan is not cricket. Waters, in a note addressed to “the military rulers of Pakistan and their masters in Washington,” urged the immediate release of Imran Khan from what he termed “false imprisonment.” Waters further called for fresh and transparent elections, allowing Imran Khan to lead his party, PTI, in a fair electoral process.

Accompanied by a video montage featuring Imran Khan and his supporters, Waters’ post also included the song ‘I Don’t Like Cricket (I Love It)’ by 10 cc. The musician expressed his support for fair play and criticized the alleged attempts to subvert the PTI during the recent elections, emphasizing the need for a government that represents the will of the people rather than the interests of foreign and domestic oligarchs.

Imran Khan has faced legal challenges and has been convicted and sentenced in three separate cases, including the cipher case, Toshakhana reference, and the Iddat case. Waters’ intervention brings international attention to the political situation in Pakistan and advocates for a democratic process that aligns with the will of the people.
