Scotland Yard Ends Investigation into Nawaz, Maryam in Arshad Sharif Case

Scotland Yard has concluded its investigation into the murder allegations made by Tasneem Haider regarding journalist Arshad Sharif. The probe, which had been ongoing for a year and a half, examined claims against Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and their associates.

Haider had accused the Sharif family of involvement in Sharif’s murder and also alleged an attack on PTI founder Imran Khan. Despite these serious allegations, the Counter-Terror Command Unit found no sufficient evidence to substantiate the claims against the Sharif family or their associates.

The investigation had begun after Haider’s November 2022 claims that Nawaz Sharif was part of a conspiracy to kill Arshad Sharif. The Metropolitan Police’s scoping exercise and subsequent assignment to the Counter-Terror Command Unit concluded that the allegations were not viable.

Scotland Yard has informed Tasneem Haider of their decision to end the investigation, citing a lack of evidence provided by Haider and his lawyer, Mehtab Aziz, to support their claims.
