The Khawarij faction, known for its violent activities, has been operating across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of the country. This operation follows a recent successful counter-infiltration mission in North Waziristan, where Pakistani forces foiled an infiltration attempt by foreign militants along the Pak-Afghan border. The clash resulted in the death of eight foreign terrorists, while four others were injured.
The ISPR emphasized the importance of strengthening border security and urged the Afghan interim government to take responsibility for managing the border effectively. Pakistan’s military remains focused on safeguarding the nation’s borders and addressing the ongoing terrorism threat through continuous operations in the area.
The political leadership of Pakistan has expressed full support for the security forces. President Asif Ali Zardari commended the forces for their courage in halting the infiltration attempt, recognizing their role in securing the country’s borders. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also praised the military’s efforts, reaffirming the government’s strong backing for the forces in their fight against terrorism.
