Senior Pakistani jurist and former Senator Syed Muhammad Zafar, commonly known as SM Zafar, has passed away at the age of 93.
SM Zafar was a prominent lawyer, former federal minister for Law and Justice, human rights activist, and a respected figure in Pakistan’s legal and political landscape.

He was also known for his commitment to justice, advocacy for minority rights, women’s rights, and his active role in the drafting of Pakistan’s 1973 Constitution and the 18th constitutional amendment.
SM Zafar’s passing has led to an outpouring of condolences from leaders, activists, and the public. His funeral prayer will be offered in Lahore.
