The Sindh Education Department has declared a province-wide holiday on January 28 for all educational institutions in observance of Shab-e-Miraj, a significant Islamic occasion. As per an official notification released on Thursday, public and private schools, colleges, and other affiliated institutions will remain closed for the day.
This annual holiday, aligned with the religious commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad’s night journey and ascension, allows students and staff to observe the occasion without academic commitments. The department’s decision applies to all educational entities under its jurisdiction.

Although no announcements about adjusted schedules or makeup days have been made, the department confirmed that the holiday follows established protocols for religious observances. Shab-e-Miraj, observed on the 27th day of the Islamic month of Rajab, is of great spiritual importance to Muslims worldwide.
This marks the second religious holiday declared by Sindh authorities recently, following the closure for Eid Milad-un-Nabi on December 18. The notification has been shared with district education officers and institutional heads to ensure compliance. Parents and students are advised to stay updated through official channels for any further announcements.
