The interim government of Sindh has announced a groundbreaking plan to implement live streaming of court proceedings throughout the province.

This initiative was unveiled by Barrister Muhammad Omer Soomro, the provincial law minister, during an event attended by legal professionals at the Hyderabad District Bar.

Minister Soomro expressed the government’s commitment to addressing the legitimate concerns of the legal community promptly. He disclosed his intention to submit a formal proposal to the interim chief minister, seeking approval for the introduction of live streaming in courts.

The primary objective of this initiative is to bring an unprecedented level of transparency to court proceedings, allowing the general public to observe and follow cases from anywhere. Additionally, Minister Soomro outlined an ambitious plan to digitize the court system, making it accessible online and facilitating remote participation via mobile devices or laptops.

One significant advantage highlighted by the minister is the potential elimination of disruptions in court proceedings caused by lawyers and litigants having to travel between cities. This virtual hearing system is expected to result in substantial time and cost savings for legal professionals and litigants alike.

Moreover, Minister Soomro emphasized the educational benefits of this initiative, as it will provide law students with valuable insights into the inner workings of the judicial system. The interim government has also pledged its support to bar associations, promising to provide essential resources such as books, laptops, and other necessary materials.
