The Sindh High Court has maintained an interim order to prevent the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) from unlawfully increasing gas bills and meter charges. A two-member bench, led by Chief Justice Muhammad Shafiq Siddiqui, heard the petition challenging the rise in bills and the collection of meter charges.

Advocate Tariq Mansoor argued that the SSGC had unfairly altered bills and categorized consumers into protected and non-protected groups. Additionally, he highlighted the imposition of a Rs460 meter rent, applied year-round, which had already resulted in over Rs11 billion being collected from Karachi.
The court ruled that these actions would remain suspended while a constitutional bench reviews the matter. The hearing was postponed for three weeks.
