Ambulance Hits Pedestrian Due to Speeding, Driver Arrested

A woman, Gul Bano, was severely injured after being struck by an ambulance from a welfare organization on New MA Jinnah Road on Thursday.

The accident occurred while Bano, a domestic worker, was crossing the road. The speeding ambulance, driven by Muhammad Ali, did not stop after hitting her. Police have arrested both the driver and the ambulance, noting that the driver’s license had expired, and Bano’s condition is critical.

The driver, however, claimed he was responding to an emergency and rushing a pregnant woman to the hospital with the siren on. He argued that Bano was running across the road and had already collided with another vehicle before being struck by the ambulance.

After the incident, the driver arranged for both the pregnant woman and the injured pedestrian to be taken to the hospital by rickshaws.

Saad Edhi, who took notice of the incident, confirmed that Bano is being treated at Civil Hospital. He assured that if the driver is found at fault, legal action will follow. However, he also noted that if Bano’s family forgives the driver, it will be their decision.
