At least two Chinese nationals were killed, and one was injured in a bombing near Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.
The Chinese Embassy issued a statement indicating that the attack specifically targeted a convoy transporting staff from the Port Qasim Electric Power Company around 11 PM on Sunday. Beijing condemned the incident as a terrorist attack, expressing condolences to the victims’ families and pledging to work with Pakistani authorities to address the situation.

According to the embassy, the convoy was carrying Chinese engineers working on a power project in Sindh province. In response to the attack, the embassy activated an emergency plan, calling for a comprehensive investigation and urging Pakistani officials to strengthen security measures for Chinese citizens and businesses.
Meanwhile, the Balochistan Liberation Army, a terrorist organization, claimed responsibility for the attack, stating they specifically targeted a “high-level convoy of Chinese engineers and investors.” The group mentioned that its Majeed Brigade carried out the assault.
Following the incident, the Chinese Embassy advised its citizens in Pakistan to remain vigilant and assured a thorough investigation to hold the perpetrators accountable. The attack has raised concerns in Islamabad, as the Port Qasim Power Generation project is part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a multi-billion dollar initiative in the sparsely populated region of Balochistan.
