Digital Payments Coming to People’s Bus Service Next Month

Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has unveiled plans to augment the public transport network in Karachi following Eid ul Fitr.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, the provincial minister committed to enhancing the transportation system in the bustling metropolis by introducing new buses on various routes across the city.

Moreover, Memon announced the inauguration of two additional routes for electric buses, alongside an expansion of the Pink Bus Service fleet.

Highlighting the significant daily ridership of over 100,000 individuals on the People’s Bus Service, the Transport Minister also disclosed the rollout of prepaid cards tailored for routes 1 and 9.

“These prepaid cards will offer seamless access to the Green Line and Orange Line as well,” remarked Memon. “Beginning April 18, an automated system will be implemented for Route-1 and Route-9. Upon successful implementation, this system will extend to all routes, providing substantial convenience to passengers by enabling them to use the same prepaid card across all public transport initiatives, including the Green Line, Orange Line, and upcoming BRT projects.”

Additionally, Memon revealed plans to introduce the Peoples Bus Service in Mirpurkhas, underscoring his commitment to transport infrastructure improvement, a directive bestowed upon him by Bilawal Bhutto and President Asif Ali Zardari.

Furthermore, Memon announced a stringent crackdown against drug trafficking in the province, reflecting the government’s multifaceted approach to public welfare and safety.
