A powerful explosion occurred near Karachi’s airport late Sunday night, injuring 17 people, including Rangers and police personnel.
The blast, heard as far as Clifton, caused confusion as authorities initially provided conflicting reports on its cause. Early speculation suggested that the explosion was either the result of an improvised explosive device (IED) or a vehicle colliding with an oil tanker.

In response, a large police and Rangers contingent arrived at the scene, offering first aid and transporting the injured to a nearby hospital. Video footage from the site showed several vehicles on fire as rescue teams worked to control the blaze.
The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called in to investigate the explosion.
Several vehicles were damaged, and firefighting and rescue teams are actively involved in relief efforts at the scene.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
Sindh Interior Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar ordered a full investigation into the incident. During a call with Malir SSP, he directed that all details regarding the blast be reported immediately.
Malir SSP confirmed that police and officials were securing the area and managing the situation. Lanjar stressed the need for swift updates on the investigation to uncover the cause. Meanwhile, rescue operations are ongoing as authorities continue to investigate the explosion.
