Karachi has Recorded its Fourth Case of Congo Virus in August

Karachi has reported another case of Congo Virus this year, with a 32-year-old patient being admitted to Jinnah Hospital in critical condition. The patient, who arrived on Wednesday, presented symptoms such as fever and diarrhea.

Subsequent testing confirmed a positive result for the Congo virus, leading to the patient’s transfer to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for advanced treatment.

Congo virus, also known as Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF), is a severe viral disease transmitted from animals to humans and can also spread between people.

The disease is notorious for its high mortality rate, with recovery chances being extremely low. Medical professionals have indicated that the condition is highly dangerous, with only a 10% chance of recovery.

The number of Congo virus cases in Karachi has increased significantly, with five cases reported in the first two weeks of August alone.

This brings the total number of cases for the year to 14. The rising number of cases highlights a concerning trend in the city’s health landscape.
