Karachi Police Prevent Forced Marriage of 13-Year-Old, Multiple Arrested

In Karachi’s Hijrat Colony, authorities successfully prevented the illegal marriage of a 13-year-old girl and arrested multiple individuals, including her parents.

The operation was conducted jointly by the Civil Lines Police and the Women and Child Protection Cell after they received a tip-off. Acting swiftly, the Protection Cell contacted SSP South Matuher Ali, who directed the Civil Lines Police to take immediate action. Together, they launched a joint operation and intervened before the marriage could take place.

Initial inquiries confirmed that wedding preparations were underway. However, when police demanded official identification documents, they verified that the girl was just 13 years old.

Based on her statement and collected evidence, FIR No. 97/2025 was registered under Sections 3/5 of the Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act and Section 511 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The girl’s parents and other individuals involved were taken into custody. According to a statement from the South District Police spokesperson, this timely intervention prevented a serious violation of child protection laws. SSP South reiterated that strict action would continue against those engaging in child marriages and harmful traditional practices.
