At least 15 people lost their lives and more than 90 were injured after powerful windstorms followed by heavy rain swept through Punjab, causing widespread destruction. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a preliminary report on Sunday confirming the toll and highlighting major structural damage across the province.
Most casualties were due to collapsing buildings and accidents involving falling trees and flying debris. Jhelum, Lahore, and Sialkot were among the hardest-hit cities. In Lahore, power outages, fallen trees, and damage at Gaddafi Stadium disrupted daily life and even halted cricket practice sessions.
