Students at Risk of Missing Out on Punjab Government's Honhaar Scholarships Due to Result Delays

Thousands of students from public universities and colleges across Punjab may miss the opportunity to benefit from the Honhaar Scholarships due to delays in the issuance of their academic results. The Punjab government’s scholarship program, aimed at supporting deserving and talented students, requires applicants to submit their result cards before the February 28 deadline. However, many students, especially from the third to eighth semesters, are still awaiting their results.

The Punjab Higher Education Department has issued an urgent letter to the administrations of public sector universities, requesting immediate action to resolve the issue. Despite this, many students remain in limbo, unable to apply for the much-needed financial assistance.

Samra Batool, a university student, expressed her frustration, saying, “We are three sisters in university, and our parents are struggling to pay our fees. I’m working to continue my education, but the delay in results has dashed our hopes of applying for the Honhaar Scholarships.” Batool’s classmates are also in the same situation, struggling with anxiety as the scholarship deadline approaches.

Officials from the Punjab Higher Education Department have shown concern over the delays. A senior department official highlighted that vice-chancellors have been urged to expedite the results process, ensuring students can submit their applications on time. The official emphasized that current results, alongside previous academic records, are mandatory for scholarship applications.

Despite the department’s efforts, some university administrations, including Government College University Lahore, have acknowledged that many students may still miss out on the opportunity if results are not released promptly.
