In a recent incident reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a suicide bomber, riding a motorcycle, detonated himself targeting a security forces’ convoy on Sunday. ISPR identified the bomber as an Afghan national affiliated with the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group.

The attack resulted in the tragic loss of two innocent civilians, while seven civilians and three soldiers sustained injuries, according to the ISPR statement. In response, security forces initiated a sanitization operation to eradicate any potential threats in the vicinity.

“The security forces of Pakistan are resolute in eradicating terrorism, and the sacrifices of our courageous civilians and soldiers only bolster our determination,” the ISPR emphasized.

The recent assault comes on the heels of an intelligence-based operation in the Sararogha region of South Waziristan, where eight militants were reported killed by the ISPR.

Earlier in the week, an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion targeted a security forces’ convoy in the Razmak area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district, resulting in the martyrdom of two soldiers.

Pakistan has experienced a surge in terrorist activities, notably in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the termination of the ceasefire between the government and the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan last year.

Statistics compiled by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) revealed a significant increase in militant attacks, with August marking the highest monthly tally in almost nine years.

The ongoing spate of attacks continues to pose a significant challenge to Pakistan’s security forces, necessitating sustained efforts to combat and eliminate terrorist threats in the region.
