QUETTA – The Balochistan administration has banned mobile phone and internet services across the provincial capital ahead of Ashura, as well as prohibiting pillion riding in the city.
The decision to shut down mobile service came amid a danger of terror attacks, as the region, including KP, saw a surge in attacks on security forces.

According to a statement issued by the Balochistan administration, mobile phone and internet services would be banned until Ashura. The decision was made in response to a request from the CPO Balochistan, who asked the provincial authorities to block all wireless mobile internet services.
Today, Muharram 7, services will be suspended from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., while on Muharram 9, services will be suspended from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Muharram 10, services will be restored following the conclusion of processions.
Cops have positioned containers to block entry to communities that lead to Muharram procession routes. The city’s security has been bolstered up, with police conducting additional recordings to ensure coverage of the big processions.
