Authorities in Swat have imposed a 30-day ban on the use of drones, citing rising security threats and ongoing regional tensions. The directive, issued by District Magistrate Shahzad Mehboob, takes immediate effect and aims to safeguard public safety and sensitive installations.
“In view of prevailing regional enmity and potential threats to public safety, the use of drones has been declared a serious security concern,” the magistrate said in a public statement on Monday.

The order warns that any unauthorized drone activity will be treated as a serious offence. Violators could face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which addresses disobedience to official orders.
Officials have urged the public to cooperate with the directive, stressing that protecting public life and infrastructure remains a top priority amid heightened regional sensitivities.
