Three Foreign Aircraft Grounded at Karachi Airport After Separate Incidents

Karachi Airport is currently accommodating three grounded foreign aircraft following unrelated incidents over the past few days, citing sources within the aviation authority.

One case involves a cargo plane operated by an international courier company, which suffered damage after being hit by a loader truck on the tarmac. The collision broke the aircraft’s left-wing lights and impacted three structural points. Repairs are pending, with a specialized technical team expected to arrive soon from abroad.

In a separate incident, a Turkish Airlines plane remains parked at the airport after a bird strike damaged one of its engines, making it unfit for takeoff. Meanwhile, a Saudia Airlines aircraft was grounded following an emergency landing triggered by an engine fire warning. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) engineers have initiated preliminary work to assess and resolve the issue.

These incidents come amid broader challenges in Pakistan’s aviation sector. Last year, it was revealed that nine out of 31 aircraft in PIA’s fleet were grounded due to a lack of spare parts, highlighting ongoing maintenance and operational struggles within the national carrier.
