TikTok Launches Digital Safety Competition in Partnership with PTA

TikTok has launched a Digital Safety Competition in collaboration with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to promote awareness about digital safety among youth. The initiative invites creators to produce impactful short videos in six categories, including:

  1. Responsible use of social media
  2. Combating online harassment
  3. Preventing online fraud
  4. Ensuring the safety and well-being of youth
  5. Understanding TikTok’s safety tools
  6. Addressing misinformation on social media platforms

The competition aims to foster responsible online behavior and contribute to a safer digital environment in Pakistan.

This partnership reflects both TikTok and PTA’s commitment to enhancing digital literacy and safety. Earlier this week, TikTok hosted its first creators’ event in Pakistan, the TikTok Experience, which brought together content creators for panel discussions, workshops, and interactive activities.

In a bid to strengthen content moderation, TikTok recently reported removing over 30.7 million videos in Pakistan during 2024, with a significant majority deleted before user reports and within 24 hours of being uploaded. Globally, TikTok took down more than 178 million videos in the same period.

Through this competition, TikTok and the PTA aim to encourage users to verify information before sharing it and promote digital safety messages.
