The much-anticipated hearing of the Toshakhana Case 2.0, involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, former first lady Bushra Bibi, faced another delay today. The session, held at Adiala Jail, was adjourned after Bushra Bibi’s defense lawyer, Arshad Tabrez, failed to appear due to illness.
The absence of Bushra Bibi’s lawyer halted the cross-examination of key witness Benjamin, a crucial moment in the case. Despite the Special Public Prosecutor Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi’s appeal for Imran Khan’s lawyer, Qausain Mufti, to continue with the cross-examination, Mufti insisted that the process should be completed by Bushra Bibi’s lawyer first.

Presiding over the session, Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand, adjourned the hearing until Monday, January 6, 2025, instructing the lawyers to complete the cross-examination in the next session. The court warned that failure to do so could lead to disciplinary action.
In the previous hearing, a list of 108 gifts received by Imran Khan during his tenure as prime minister was submitted in court. This key piece of evidence, presented by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), has become a focal point in the proceedings. The defense is expected to challenge the validity and handling of these gifts in upcoming sessions.
The next hearing will see continued cross-examinations by Bushra Bibi’s lawyer, Arshad Tabrez, followed by Imran Khan’s legal team, as the case moves closer to a conclusion.
