Traffic and Security Measures Finalized for Champions Trophy Match at Gaddafi Stadium

Fans attending the upcoming Champions Trophy match between England and Australia at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, have been issued special instructions regarding traffic and security. As Pakistan hosts this international event, local authorities have ensured comprehensive preparations to manage the high turnout of spectators.

Lahore’s Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) announced that over 1,000 traffic police personnel will be deployed to manage traffic during the match. Strict measures will be in place to control parking violations, with 20 forklifts and 4 breakdown vehicles on standby to handle unauthorized parking. Fans are advised to follow designated parking plans, depending on their route of arrival.

For those arriving from Defence, parking is allocated at the Central Business District (CBD), accessible via Firdous Market. Spectators coming via Ferozepur Road will be directed to parking near Government College Gulberg after crossing Kalma Chowk, while fans from Defence and Cantt areas can park in Liberty Park by taking routes through Hussain Chowk or Sherpao Bridge.

Traffic authorities confirmed that no roads will be permanently closed, with key routes such as Mall Road, Jail Road, and Canal Road remaining open for normal traffic. Ferozepur Road and Main Boulevard Gulberg will also operate as usual. Real-time traffic updates will be available via the Rasta App and Rasta FM 88.6.

On the security front, Punjab Police has implemented a detailed plan to ensure the safety of players, officials, and spectators. IG Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has directed that over 12,000 police officers and officials be deployed for the event. This includes specialized units like the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit, and Elite teams patrolling key areas.

Additionally, Safe City cameras will monitor routes and critical areas around the stadium, while snipers will be positioned for added security. Authorities have assured fans that strict security protocols will be followed, and the public is encouraged to cooperate to ensure a smooth experience.
