Tragic Bus Accident on M2 Motorway Near Lahore, Claims Five Deaths and Ten Injuries

A bus traveling from Mansehra to Lahore collided with a van near Faizpur on the M2 motorway, leading to the deaths of at least five people and injuring ten others, officials confirmed on Tuesday. The accident occurred when the speeding bus rear-ended a Hiace van, as reported by motorway spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed. The bus struck the van from behind near the Faizpur interchange, and motorway police believe the crash was caused by the bus driver falling asleep at the wheel.

Rescue operations were quickly launched by the motorway police, overseen by sector commander Ashiq Chauhan. The injured individuals were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Masroor Alam Kolachi visited the hospital to check on the injured and offer support to the victims and their families.

In a separate incident on Sunday night, an oil tanker explosion near Jinnah International Airport in Karachi caused chaos, resulting in two fatalities and injuries to ten others, including several security personnel. The blast occurred near the airport signal and was so powerful that it could be heard from a distance, prompting residents to evacuate in panic.

The explosion destroyed three cars and four motorcycles, causing immediate traffic disruptions on Shahrah-e-Faisal as authorities worked to manage the situation. Rangers and police arrived quickly to cordon off the area, allowing fire brigade teams to combat the flames. It took about an hour to bring the fire under control, with rescue officials confirming that among the injured were three security guards, two Rangers, a police officer, a foreign national, and three civilians.

Earlier, a local landowner’s wife, son, and mother tragically lost their lives in an accident while visiting family in Kot Addu. The incident occurred as their bodies were returned home, prompting an outpouring of grief in the community.

Fauzia Batool, the wife of landowner Mian Muhammad Ali Qureshi, known as Mian Bubal, was traveling with her son, Muhammad Talal Qureshi, and her mother, Shireen Akhtar. They were returning to their home in Basti Jano, Kot Addu, when a speeding car collided with their rickshaw on Head Tunza Road.

The impact was devastating, resulting in the immediate deaths of Fauzia, Talal, Shireen, and the rickshaw driver, Riaz. The driver of the car, identified by the license plate ANB 605, fled the scene after the collision.
