PIA Settles Rs100 Million Fuel Payment with PSO

On Friday, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) made a customary payment of Rs100 million to the Pakistan State Oil for fuel supply.

The airline’s limited payment for fuel procurement has raised concerns about the potential recurrence of an abnormal situation, which led to a mass cancellation of flights during the holidays.

Over an 11-day period, the number of canceled domestic and international flights operated by PIA reached a total of 537 due to a fuel shortage. Sources indicate that air operations were restricted under “Plan B,” resulting in partial disruptions to both domestic and international flights, including cancellations of flights to Dammam.

This situation not only affected flights between various cities within Pakistan but also led to the cancellation and delay of flights connecting to Jeddah, Dubai, Salalah, Dammam, Kuwait City, Abu Dhabi, and Bahrain from cities other than Karachi.
