Recent pre-monsoon rainfall in Rawalpindi and surrounding areas, starting on the night of June 17, have raised concerns about potential monsoon floods in Nullah Leh and other drainage systems.
These rainfalls have also led to increased water inflows into Rawal, Simli, and Khanpur dams, crucial for supplying water to Rawalpindi and Islamabad, easing concerns over a summer water crisis expected this month.
However, the cleaning and desilting of the 18 km long Nullah Leh and ten major rain drains were not completed before the monsoon season due to temporary work stoppages during the Eid ul Adha holidays.
