Punjab has launched an polio vaccination campaign across five districts, including Lahore, in response to the detection of the poliovirus.

The campaign aims to administer polio drops to 4.5 million children. Khizr Afzal, Head of the Anti Polio Program, confirmed the commencement of the campaign in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, Lodhran, and Muzaffargarh. It involves the participation of 32,000 polio workers who will ensure the vaccination drive’s success.

In Lahore and Rawalpindi, the polio vaccination campaign is scheduled to continue for seven days, whereas in the other districts, it will span five days.

This proactive measure is crucial to preventing the spread of polio and protecting children from the debilitating effects of the disease. Punjab’s efforts underscore a concerted commitment to public health and ensuring that every child receives essential vaccinations to safeguard their well-being.
