The Election Commission of Pakistan has granted the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) an extension to submit records related to the party’s intra-party election case. The hearing has been postponed until October 2.
During the hearing, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan requested an additional 10 days to provide the required documentation. A commission member appreciated Gohar’s commitment to submit the record by stating, “It is good that you said God willing you will submit the record.”

The commission inquired about the locations of the intra-party elections, to which Gohar responded that elections were held across all four provinces and Islamabad.
A commission member from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa warned Gohar that if the intra-party elections are not recognized, the party could face a five-year ban under the Elections Act.
The commission questioned what actions could be taken if PTI failed to conduct the intra-party elections, to which Gohar assured full cooperation.
After the hearing, Gohar told the media that PTI had conducted comprehensive intra-party elections across all regions, electing a chairman, secretary general, and four presidents, with no objections raised. He noted that while the election commission had posed constitutional and legal questions, it had not made any formal objections.
Regarding reserved seats, Gohar mentioned that the commission itself had submitted relevant documents, and he criticized the commission’s comments on PTI’s structure as incorrect. “We have addressed the commission’s queries in the Supreme Court,” he added.
