ISLAMABAD – A new Gallup Pakistan survey shows rising support for Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Nearly half of KP’s population now prefers her over their own Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur.
The survey was conducted between February and March 2025. It involved face-to-face interviews with 3,000 people across the province. The results reveal growing dissatisfaction with KP’s leadership and basic public services.
Public Services in Decline
Access to healthcare in KP is a major concern. Only 63% of people said they can get medical help when needed. The problem is worse in rural and southern parts of the province.
Gas shortages also continue to affect daily life. About 66% of respondents said they do not have access to gas. Electricity is another issue, with 49% facing power cuts or an unstable supply.
Young people are especially affected. Around 77% say they have no nearby parks. Over 80% report no access to libraries, while 70% have no community centers.
Development Stagnation Since 2024
Transport and road development have also slowed. Only 43% of people saw any new roads in their area. Just 37% noticed improvements in transport facilities.
The PTI-led projects that once earned public praise have lost momentum after the 2024 elections.
Public Urges Cooperation, Not Conflict
The survey shows that 85% of respondents want KP’s government to cooperate with the federal government. Another 60% believe the provincial leadership is wasting time on protests rather than solving real problems.
This shift in public opinion suggests that Maryam Nawaz is being seen as a symbol of hope and effective leadership. Her popularity in KP reflects the declining trust in the current provincial administration.
The Gallup findings clearly show a rise in support for Maryam Nawaz, especially as KP residents grow tired of poor governance and slow progress.
