National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has responded to the recent arrests of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders at the parliament. He has directed Islamabad’s Inspector General (IG) to promptly release the detained PTI lawmakers and has made it clear that any disrespect towards assembly members will not be tolerated.
The Speaker has also requested a report from the IG Islamabad regarding the incident. On Monday, several PTI figures, including Barrister Gohar, Sher Afzal Marwat, and Shoaib Shaheen, were detained, with some arrests occurring inside the Parliament House. Additional arrests included various PTI leaders and associates.

The arrests followed police presenting an FIR against PTI members for violating regulations during a September 8 rally. Three cases have been filed under the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Bill, citing violations of the event’s NOC, with 28 individuals named in the FIR.
