PTI Founder Petitions IHC Over May 9 Cases Transfer to Military Courts

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) challenging the transfer of May 9 cases to military courts. The petition, submitted by his lawyer Aziz Karamat Bhandari, names several respondents, including the secretary of law, secretary of home affairs, IG Islamabad, IG Punjab, IG Jails, DG FIA, and the federal government. Imran Khan urged the court not to allow the transfer of these cases to military jurisdiction.

In August, while in custody, Imran Khan expressed a willingness to offer a conditional apology for the May 9 riots. He emphasized that footage should be used to identify the culprits, who should then face justice. If any of the perpetrators are found to be linked to PTI, he pledged to expel them from the party and issue an apology.

Khan also questioned why evidence related to the May 9 incidents is being concealed, labeling the act of hiding evidence as a crime. He asserted that his party, PTI, is a victim of these events and demanded transparency in the investigation process.

Additionally, Imran Khan claimed that he was “kidnapped” under the pretense of an arrest and insisted that an apology be issued to him for what he described as his “abduction.”
