PTI Plans Nationwide Rallies Ahead of By-polls

In Lahore, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced plans to stage nationwide public rallies, with a particular focus on Punjab, leading up to the forthcoming by-elections scheduled for April 21. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan confirmed the party’s intentions to hold these rallies during a press conference outside Adiala Jail, accompanied by party leader Sher Afzal Marwat and other officials. He clarified that a scheduled meeting with the party’s founder was in accordance with court directives granting permission for the meeting.

Under the directives of Imran Khan, the PTI chairman announced plans to organize public rallies in Punjab and other regions before the by-elections. Sher Afzal Marwat was specifically tasked with leading these rallies in Punjab, with expected attendance from senior party members. Additionally, Imran Khan instructed the party’s leadership to revamp activities nationwide, particularly in Punjab. Barrister Gohar, Omar Ayub, and Sher Afzal Marwat were tasked with mobilizing the party in Punjab and KP, and conducting rallies before the by-elections.

During the meeting with Imran Khan, concerns were raised over privacy breaches by the jail administration, with a glass screen installed between Imran Khan and visitors. In response, Imran Khan instructed Sher Afzal Marwat to file a contempt of court petition against the jail administration.

Gohar discussed Imran Khan’s concerns regarding the state of the nation, emphasizing the need for equal application of the law and expressing frustration over unresolved petitions in the Supreme Court. Plans for a rally in support of judicial independence were also announced.

Meanwhile, Omar Ayub Khan criticized the Punjab government and police for actions against PTI candidates and supporters ahead of the by-polls, labeling it as pre-poll rigging. He demanded the public release of the Faizabad inquiry report and punishment for those responsible.

Omar raised concerns about harassment faced by PTI candidates and interference in the electoral process. He criticized the reduction in polling stations and alleged interference by the Chief Election Commissioner. Regarding recent events in Bahawalnagar, Omar called for a transparent judicial inquiry into the clash between police and army personnel.

In conclusion, Omar emphasized the importance of the rule of law, judicial independence, and accountability, while also addressing economic policies, geopolitical tensions, and domestic issues. He reiterated PTI’s commitment to unity under the leadership of Imran Khan and called for resolution of grievances in Balochistan.
