LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Punjab governor Omar Sarfaraz Cheema was arrested on Wednesday during an Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab raid at his home.
The arrest comes just days after former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairperson Imran Khan was arrested by Rangers paramilitary force at Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday, in a dramatic move that threatens new turmoil in the country as protests erupted in multiple cities across Pakistan in response to his party’s call.

PTI leader Hammad Azhar confirmed Cheema’s arrest on his official Twitter account in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
“Who is taking former governor Omar Sarfaraz Cheema?” Where? “On what charges?” he inquired.
The video showed alleged officials dressed in civilian attire entering Cheema’s home. They could be heard saying that they were “waiting” for him, as the former governor descended down the stairs.
