PTI Raises Concerns Over Bushra Bibi's Health at Banigala

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) raised concerns on Thursday regarding the deteriorating health of party founder Imran Khan’s spouse, Bushra Bibi, and called for her urgent medical inspection.

Bushra Bibi is currently confined to the couple’s Banigala residence, which was designated as a sub-jail for her after their conviction and sentencing in the Toshakhana case.

A spokesperson for Bushra Bibi and PTI lawyer, Mashal Yousufzai, revealed on social media platform X that Bushra Bibi had met her family, Imran’s sister, and the PTI legal team. Yousufzai stated that Bushra Bibi disclosed that she had been given something similar to acid in her food, causing immense pain for the past five days.

Yousufzai explained that Bushra Bibi felt as though her stomach was on fire, with severe sores in her mouth and throat, making it difficult for her to consume anything except dry toast dipped in tea or water. The situation was described as severe agony.

Expressing concern for Bushra Bibi’s life, Yousufzai urged for her immediate medical inspection. The PTI’s official social media handle also condemned the alleged mistreatment, accusing the government of maliciously attacking Imran’s wife and denying her medical aid. They asserted that those responsible for these acts would be brought to justice, emphasizing Pakistan’s and Imran Khan’s resilience.

Additionally, the party called upon higher courts to intervene in the matter.

Imran and Bushra Bibi were sentenced to 14 years in jail in the Toshakhana case last month, and subsequently, their Banigala residence was converted into a sub-jail for Bushra. Despite rumors of a deal, Imran denied any such arrangements, stating they did not seek any deal. Bushra Bibi approached the Islamabad High Court on Feb 6, requesting to be moved to Adiala Jail instead of staying at the Banigala residence.
