The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a heatwave alert for Punjab due to the recent extreme heat. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reports that hot and dry conditions will persist across Punjab until Eid ul Adha, with severe heat affecting the entire province, including Lahore.

In Lahore, temperatures are expected to range from a minimum of 28 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 43 degrees Celsius today, with a potential rise to 46 degrees Celsius in the coming days.

Sindh has also experienced prolonged heatwaves, marking its hottest May on record. Temperatures have reached up to 50 degrees Celsius for consecutive days in many cities. On May 26, the Mohenjo Daro weather station recorded a scorching 52.5°C, the highest temperature of the summer season so far, with Jacobabad closely following at 52 degrees Celsius.

The heatwave has also impacted lower Sindh, with cities like Hyderabad, Thatta, and Badin experiencing temperatures as high as 48°C in Hyderabad.
