Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao has responded to recent speculation about his appearance, refuting claims of undergoing plastic surgery while acknowledging past filler work.

Following his attendance at Diljit Dosanjh’s concert, Rao’s altered appearance sparked discussion among fans, prompting rumors about potential plastic surgery. Addressing these rumors in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Rao clarified, “I have not undergone any plastic surgery, guys. It is just a bad photo. That is just a touch-up photo. I wish I had such clean and flawless skin because it looks like that.”

Rao disclosed his previous experience with cosmetic procedures, stating, “About eight years ago, I underwent some filler work on my chin because I wanted to exude confidence. My dermatologist recommended it, and I went ahead with it. Did it boost my confidence? Yes. Did I perform better in films afterward? It changed perceptions.”

While acknowledging the significance of appearance in the acting industry, the 39-year-old actor emphasized his stance against plastic surgery, citing its costliness and time-consuming nature. He expressed, “If someone wishes to enhance their confidence and the science is available, then why not? But I am against plastic surgery.”

Despite the controversy, Rao remains committed to his upcoming projects, including “Mr and Mrs Mahi” opposite Janhvi Kapoor, scheduled for a May 31 release, along with “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video” and “Srikanth” in the pipeline.

The pressure to conform to narrow beauty standards in celebrity culture often leads individuals to consider cosmetic procedures, ranging from colorism to fat shaming. Additionally, advancements in medical technology have made such procedures more accessible and less invasive, contributing to their popularity.
