According to his son’s statement to a regional magazine, prominent thinker, educator, and dramatist Shoaib Hashmi passed away on Monday after a protracted illness. He was 84 years of age.
Hashmi, a well-known character in the theatrical community, received praise for his considerable contributions to Pakistan Television (PTV) with well-liked programmes including Akkar Bakkar, Sach Gupp, and Taal Matol. The well-known dramatist also had an impressive educational background, earning an MSc from the prestigious London School of Economics and a master’s degree in economics from Government College Lahore (GCL).
He also studied theatre training at London’s esteemed Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in order to develop his love of the performing arts. He was honored with the Tamagha-i-Imtiaz.
