Shoaib Malik Creates History, Registers 1,000 T20 Fours for Pakistan

In a  National T20 Cup match between Sialkot and Rawalpindi regions at Karachi’s UBL Sports Complex, Pakistan’s veteran batsman, Shoaib Malik, etched his name in cricket history by becoming the first Pakistani player to achieve a remarkable milestone of 1,000 fours in the T20 format.

This exceptional feat occurred during Malik’s 446th international T20 match, setting a unique record in his illustrious T20 career.

Displaying an impressive performance, Malik joins an exclusive group of eight players globally who have amassed 1,000 fours in T20 cricket, distinguishing himself as Pakistan’s inaugural cricketer to achieve this milestone across 482 innings.

Additionally, Malik solidified his T20 expertise by crossing the threshold of 400 sixes, establishing a solitary position among Pakistani players in this remarkable achievement.

Leading Sialkot in the National T20 Cup, the right-handed batsman showcased his skill with a brilliant 84 off 56 balls, adorned with 10 boundaries, setting a challenging target of 164 runs for the opposition.

Despite Malik’s outstanding contribution, Rawalpindi successfully chased down the target in 18.4 overs, surpassing Sialkot’s total with eight balls to spare.

Notably, Malik, eyeing the record for the most runs in T20 cricket currently held by Chris Gayle, remains 1,719 runs away from making history. He boasts an impressive 12,843 runs in 482 innings, while Gayle holds the record with 14,562 runs in 455 innings.

Recognized for his commitment to fitness, Malik’s enduring presence in Pakistan cricket since his debut against West Indies in October 1999 underscores his remarkable longevity and dedication to the sport.
