Sindh To Launch Pakistan Inaugural Electric And Pink-Colored EV Taxis

Electric EV taxis are reshaping urban transport in various parts of the world, and Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city and financial hub, along with other cities, will soon experience the introduction of these modern commercial EV vehicles.

Sharjeel Inam Memon, Senior Minister of Sindh, announced the launch of electric taxis and pink taxis as part of a new initiative by the Sindh Department of Transport. This marks the first introduction of such services in the country.

Memon revealed plans to deploy 200 electric taxis in Karachi, alongside 50 pink taxis exclusively for female passengers. These initiatives aim to improve public transportation and cater to the specific needs of female commuters.

The Minister emphasized the importance of women’s safety by planning to hire female drivers specifically for the pink taxis. This move is intended to provide safer and more affordable transport options for the local community.
