Social Media and Internet Services Reportedly Down in Parts of Pakistan

On Sunday evening, users across Pakistan reported widespread outages and connection errors on popular social media platforms and internet services. Complaints included difficulties connecting to Twitter (now known as X), Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Google services, and the internet service provider PTCL. The disruptions were evident in the sharp rise of connection outages on platforms like YouTube, X, and Facebook, as indicated by downdetector’s graphs.

NetBlocks, a global internet observatory, confirmed a nationwide disruption to social media platforms in Pakistan. This included connectivity issues with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. The observatory noted the scale of the disruption, affecting the entire nation.

As of now, the reason behind the widespread outage has not been officially disclosed by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). The PTA has not issued any statement on the matter, leaving users and the public without official information regarding the cause of the disruptions. The sudden and widespread nature of the outages raised concerns and led to an increased demand for information regarding the status and resolution of the connectivity issues.
