Former Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad voiced his frustration following Pakistan’s 5-wicket loss to New Zealand in the Tri-Nation Series final. In a sharp critique on his YouTube channel, Shehzad called the team’s decision-making “brainless,” particularly targeting captain Mohammad Rizwan for poor leadership and questionable tactics.
Shehzad was baffled by the decision to bat first, noting that the pitch was better suited for teams chasing in the evening. Despite this, Rizwan and the team opted to bat, a choice Shehzad found unstrategic and avoidable. He warned that such mistakes would prove costly in high-stakes tournaments like the upcoming Champions Trophy.

The former cricketer also highlighted the struggling batting unit, with Babar Azam failing to make an impact and Pakistan collapsing for a mere 242 runs. In contrast, New Zealand chased the target with ease, thanks to strong performances from Tom Latham and Daryl Mitchell, winning with 4.4 overs remaining.
With the Champions Trophy 2025 on the horizon, Shehzad urged Pakistan to rethink their approach, warning that if they continue making such “childish” mistakes, their chances of success will be slim.
