Wasim Akram, the former captain, has made an astonishing revelation concerning his departure from international cricket, claiming that the PCB chairman at the time did not approve of him.

During an interview, Akram stated that he still had the potential to play cricket, but that being continually dropped from the team forced him to retire.

“I was asked to retire from red-ball cricket two years before my international retirement, though I continued to play ODIs for two more years,” Wasim Akram confessed.

The left-arm pacer went on to say that despite his excellent performances, the cricket board dropped him from the national squad after the 2023 World Cup.

When asked about his decision to play county cricket after the World Cup, Wasim Akram revealed that he joined Hampshire to show the PCB his ability.

“I retired from Test cricket two years ago.” Hampshire made me bowl 28 overs on Day 1 of the first four-day game. As a result, I couldn’t walk for three days,” explained the left-arm pacer.

Because of his remarkable bowling abilities, the Lahor-born player is often recognised as the best left-arm fast bowler the cricketing world has ever seen.

Wasim Akram, also known as the King of Swing, made an indelible mark on cricket by taking 414 Test wickets and 502 ODI wickets.
