Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the fastest captain to reach 2000 runs in One Day International (ODI) cricket.
Babar accomplished this feat in just 31 innings, surpassing India’s Virat Kohli, who reached 2000 ODI runs as captain in 36 innings. Following Babar on the list are South Africa’s AB de Villiers, who took 41 innings, and Australia’s Michael Clarke, who achieved it in 47 innings.
Babar Azam achieved this milestone during a Super Four game of the Asia Cup against Bangladesh at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Last week, Babar impressed with a brilliant 151 runs from 131 deliveries in the opening game of the Asia Cup.

During this innings, he broke another record by becoming the fastest player in cricket history to score 19 ODI centuries, achieving this feat in just 102 ODI innings, surpassing South Africa’s Hashim Amla’s previous record of 104 innings.
Babar’s remarkable performance included 14 fours and four sixes, and it was the second-highest score ever achieved at the Asia Cup, only behind Virat Kohli’s 183 against Pakistan in 2012.
Notably, it was also the first time a captain had scored 150 or more in an Asia Cup match, surpassing Kohli’s previous best of 136 against Bangladesh in 2014.
