14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi Becomes Youngest Ever to Hit T20 Century in IPL

Fourteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history on Monday by becoming the youngest player ever to hit a century in men’s T20 cricket, guiding Rajasthan Royals to a dominant eight-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2025.

The young prodigy reached his explosive hundred in just 35 balls — the second-fastest in IPL history and the quickest by an Indian — with a six off Rashid Khan. Only Chris Gayle has recorded a faster IPL century, scoring one in 30 balls back in 2013.

Suryavanshi’s thrilling innings included 7 boundaries and 11 sixes before he was bowled out for 101 off 38 balls. His 166-run stand with Yashasvi Jaiswal (70* off 40) helped Rajasthan chase a daunting 210-run target in just 15.5 overs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

Signed by Rajasthan Royals last year for ₹1.1 crore, Suryavanshi—who turned 14 only a month ago—had earlier announced his arrival by smashing his first ball in the IPL for a six. Against Gujarat, he maintained the same fearless energy, smashing Ishant Sharma and Karim Janat for 28 and 30 runs in single overs respectively.

He also set a new IPL record for the fastest fifty, reaching the milestone in just 17 balls. Rajasthan’s win ended their five-game losing streak and kept their playoff chances alive, while Gujarat dropped to third in the points table despite strong performances from Shubman Gill (84) and Jos Buttler (50*).

Originally from Bihar, Suryavanshi gained attention last year with a century for India U-19 against Australia and had already debuted in first-class cricket for Bihar at age 12, marking a rapid rise in Indian cricket.
