Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar Set to Host PSL 10 Matches

PSL

Peshawar’s Arbab Niaz Stadium is set to make a historic return to hosting international cricket after nearly two decades. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the newly renovated stadium will host two matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, marking the revival of cricket in the city.

The last international match at the stadium was held in 2006, when Pakistan played against India. Since then, the stadium has remained inactive for international fixtures. However, after persistent efforts by Peshawar Zalmi and the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government, the PCB has agreed to bring PSL action to Peshawar. Due to the lack of floodlights, the matches will be held during the day.

The return of international cricket to Peshawar is also accompanied by the arrival of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Champions Trophy, which will be displayed at the stadium on Thursday. With the completion of the Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium renovations, the city is on track to become an even more prominent cricket hub.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Sports, Syed Fakhar Jahan, emphasized that the stadium would be ready for PSL matches by February 15. He reassured the public that civil work is being carried out at an expedited pace, ensuring that funding and timely construction would not pose any obstacles. Security measures in the region are also not a concern, as the province has successfully hosted several national events recently.
