Pakistan’s new white-ball head coach Mike Hesson has made it clear that senior players like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are not guaranteed spots in the T20I squad, as he plans a tactical reset for the team.

In an interview with journalist Saleem Khaliq, Hesson said future selections will be based on defined team roles and not past performances or reputations. “We’ll pick players who can fulfil the specific style of cricket we want to play,” he stated.

Hesson’s first assignment will be the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore. Notably, Babar, Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi are missing from the squad, suggesting a new era in the making.

The squad includes returning names like Hasan Ali, Fakhar Zaman, and Saim Ayub. Originally a five-match series, it has been shortened to three games after talks between PCB and Bangladesh board officials.
