New Zealand Wins ODI Series as Pakistan’s Losing Streak Persists

Pakistan’s woes in international cricket persisted as they faced another defeat against New Zealand in the second ODI, with the hosts taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

The match, held at Seddon Park in Hamilton, saw New Zealand set a challenging total of 292/8 in their 50 overs after being invited to bat first by Pakistan’s captain, Mohammad Rizwan.

Mitchell Hay, the wicketkeeper-batsman, was the standout performer for New Zealand, remaining unbeaten on 99 off 78 balls, hitting 7 sixes and 7 fours to help his team reach a formidable total.

Pakistan’s response was disappointing as their batting collapsed under pressure, all out for 208 in 42 overs. Faheem Ashraf was the highest scorer for Pakistan with 73 runs, and Naseem Shah showed resilience, scoring a quick-fire 50 off 41 balls.

The rest of Pakistan’s batting lineup faltered:

  • Salman Agha – 9 runs
  • Mohammad Rizwan – 5 runs
  • Babar Azam – 1 run
  • Abdullah Shafiq – 1 run
  • Imam-ul-Haq – 3 runs
  • Tayyab Tahir – 13 runs

Earlier, Pakistan’s bowlers put up a decent performance with Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Sufyan Muqeem picking up two wickets each, while Faheem Ashraf, Akif Javed, and Haris Rauf claimed one wicket each.
